The seven unique fees, charges and taxes associated with owning and operating a motor vehicle in Massachusetts are:
excise tax, gas tax, licensing, registration and inspection fees, insurance and tolls
Under ideal conditions (i.e. no traffic to get in the way, no toll collectors to run down, no out-of-towners stopped in the 'Fast Lane'), you could go through at speeds up to 40 mph and the Big Dig would still get your dollar.
At speeds beyond 40 mph you will be past the traffic signal, when it finally turns green. (BTW, the official speed limit is 15 mph.)
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on your part, but you cannot assume an approaching car flashing its lights at you is really saying: "Don't mind me, feel free to cut me off at any time." You may be surprised, but everywhere in the civilized world (except around Boston that is), flashing lights mean "Warning! Caution!" If you think about it, it is really an equivalent of a blaring horn.
When you see a police car, an ambulance or a fire engine flashing its lights at you, do you also assume the message is "Please keep on driving like a jerk?"
