The Tobin Bridge "safety gates" are going up. Personnel are also going to be stationed in the cost-saving "unmanned" Fast Lane lanes. Why? Because - coincidentally, I'm sure - come April 2004, the tolls are also going up. (In a show of support for public transit, Massport is also increasing the tolls for busses by 400%)

Anyway, revenue from the bridge, which the authorities claim costs 15 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR TO OPERATE is also going towards paying for the $14.6 billion leaky Big Dig project.

May I suggest in addition to inconveniencing and punishing us, and lying about the reason for the gates, that Massport took some of that $15 million and resurfaced the old bridge for its customers? Is it that much to ask?
